Roof Trusses
I am adding an attached porch to my camp. The porch would be 21' wide (attached to the camp) and come out 8'. I want a raised ceiling (vaulted or cathedral) and need to know the best way to frame the roof/ceiling to achieve the most open space.

Have a Draftsman draw up a plan and submit it for approval.

What, exactly, would "a camp" consist of?

I'm not sure where the OP is from, but I suspect somewhere in Northern Ontario, Canada. Up here the word "camp" is used instead of "cottage". Probably derived from the old logging days of years gone by, when they had "bush camps" set up for the loggers.

"Camp" is a term that has many meanings.

I have been at deer "camps" in northern Michigan (upper lower portion) that had several buildings where the members went 10 to 30 miles out of town for 7-10 days or so during deer season and had food and liquor delivered so they did not have to leave. Some members hunters until they got their deer, others hunted or just carried cameras and some cooked. Everyone played cards and had a drink ot two. - A real social event!

These camps were not like the private hunting preserves nearby where the recently raised the fences from 8' to 10' or 12' to keep the prime breeding in the site confines.

I used a "camp" that was an old abandoned train car that was bought and moved and set on concrete blocks. - Not northern Ontario, but they still ended many sentences with eh?

The term "camp" has a wide definition.
