Roof sheathing

Does anyone here know if it is code compliant to use 7/16" OSB for roof sheating in NYS?

Thanks

Do your local authorities having jurisdiction go by the IBC?

Personally, I would not even think about it. Just because you can does not mean that you should.

if you'd like a nice ripple effect to your roof ..... then 7/16" would be perfect. I never specify anything less than 5/8"

here are the building codes for NY state http://publicecodes.cyberregs.com/st...010-999999.htm

Well, its just a small addition and I have a lot of 7/16" OSB and a lot of scrap 2x4's. What I was going to do was put a 2x4 every 16" between the trusses I know its a lot of extra work but it would stop the rippling effect I think. Also, 5/8" plywood here is $26 a sheet and I need 12. Is this a bad idea?

+1 to the other posters.

Even if it were permitted...don't do it. Go thick and do it once. Your roof and structure will thank you.

I would like to thank everyone for their input, and I will take back the 7/16" osb back and get 5/8" plywood even though its double the price now, it will be worth it for the long haul.

Thanks
