roof over hang

I bought a foreclosure, the rear of the home has a 36" roof over hang, which is begining to sag. What is the guidelines on over hang distances from the supporting wall? If i want to leave the 36" over hang, is a support post required?

To have a 36" eave looks funny, but if i can keep it from sagging i will keep it as it is.

Where are you located?

Clothes taking longer to dry?
Clean the dryer screen in HOT water if using fabric softener sheets.
They leave a residue that impedes air-flow, costing you money.
Clean the ducting in the last six months? 17,000 dryer fires annually!

roof over hang

Are these trusses or rafters? Also, is it a top chord overhang or bottom chord?
