Roof decking

When installing roof decking, OSB or plywood, do you start at the top, ridge, or do you start at the bottom, overhang, or does it matter?

roof sheathing

Start at the bottom, easier to get a good layout, and gives
you something to stand on as you work your way up:)

I suppose you could start at the top, but why would you want to? We always start at the bottom, and stagger the sheets up....much easier.

Third vote for bottom....

This allows you to use the straight factory edge of the sheathing board as the edge of the roof = Nice and straight to attach your roof drip cap on. Your overhang and soffit line of your roof comes out nice and straight as well.

When you get to the top of the roof (Gable, hip, or other) ...it doesn't matter if it's a little wavy.... ridge vent and shingle caps cover it all.
