roof 2X4 beef up

I want to know if it is better to put alummin strips on the bottom of the roof 2X4, or one along each side to make a crisscross pattern for added strength?

I don't quite understand the post(s).
Are you building a 2x4 truss system and want to know where the plates go?
What is, "warring"?
