Ridig Foam Instillation

I am installing 2" 2 X 8 ft. rigid foam to the concrete blocks in my crawl space. I am looking for instillation tips ie. method of attachment, cutting foam, taping seams etc.

I believe they make a special adhesive to glue the board to the masonry so it doesn't ruin the board.

Good question on the cutting tool, that's pretty thick stuff.

I insulated the concrete walls of my crawl space this spring.

Serrated bread knife. I wasn't able to sneak the 'good one' out of the kitchen so I used the old serrated bread knife that I bought from one of those demo sales guys about 20 years ago. He did say it would come in handy one day. Black sharpee works pretty good to mark your cut lines.

I used an adhesive caulking. 300 something comes to mind. Bought it at home depot and it was made specifically for use with styrofoam. Regular construction adhesives will eat through the foam, you don't want that.

sounds about right but don't trust my memory completely. Before you buy it make sure to check the label first, it needs to be for use with styro foam.

Yea it's the PL300 Foam Adhesive, doesn't take much to hold it in place. I went back and filled any voids/seams with spray foam as well but the adhesive makes a great sealant at the top.

Just a regular old hand saw cuts great.

Doesnt code prevent that rigid insulation of being installed without it being covered up?

I don't remember for sure, but right on the insulation is a warning to cover it up with rock.
