Ridge Board

Does a gable roof use a combination of opposing common rafters and hip rafters attached to a ridge board?

I guess.

Gable roofs can me made many different ways. It is more of a design term than a construction term.

I have made gable roofs where the rafter just come together and I used gusset plates to keep them together. It was still a gable designed roof.
