Retro-fit Garage floor drain

I have been getting a lot of water pooling on my attached garage floor. the drain would be 18 feet or so from the house.
I was thinking that I would cut out a 6'X6' square and bury a 55 gallon drum with holes in it and filled with big rocks. Then pour new concrete sloping toward a new floor grate over the barrel burried under my garage floor. I live in minnesota so I think that the bottom of the barrel should be at least 5 feet down.
Does this make sense. Am I missing any important issues? Thanks for your help

There are very specific codes for installing a drain in the garage due to the possibility of gas entering the drain
Not sure what is required for safety

You're absolutely correct Dave. I'd be suprised, actually amazed, if there was any form of code in this country that allowed the barrel for a drain.

Here in WI, most code dictates that the drain go directly outside to grade, and some require or allow the drain to be connected to the sanitary sewer.
