Repointing 90 year old chimney in western Wa


Good point Stuart. I always gauge the mortar with either a very small amount of (<2%) portland or (<5%) brick dust.

Thanks again for all the help. I still have more to study, but I think I will tackle this one myself. For other beginners who may read this thread, I found this recently and it has been a great primer.

Repointing 90 year old chimney in western Wa


The government briefs are a great source of information. A few of them are a little outdated now (1981) in regards to things like removing old putty from windows. But most of the other information is great!
