Replacing old aluminum windows

I have wood siding and aluminum windows. I don't think you can just get replacement windows and slide them in without tearing up the siding on the outside. Am I correct on this? Any suggestions on how to replace these windows without tearing up the siding?

Replacing old aluminum windows

Can you take a picture of the outside.

I have seen installers with Milguard windows to a retrofit with a wood trim on a house that had hardie siding then the trim. I was not doing it, just house sitting while they working.

Replacing old aluminum windows

It is possible to use the existing frames as stops for new vinyl replacement windows and save on installation labor.
