I have a brick foundation under a 3 sided bay (sized approximately 16x5 feet). The foundation is failing and needs to be replaced. It does not appear to be much of a footing under the brick. My thought is to put temporary supports under the bay, remove the foundation walls, put a proper footing in and then rebuild the wall. Does this sound doable? Any suggestions or recommendations?
that's exactly how its done,,, if your ' bay ' is like ours
( breakfast room ), the dead load isn't much & built-up 2x8's cribbed properly should hold it in place even for an occasional fat granny you'd also need to spread the load to the joists, of course,,, some other stuff to consider but you're on the right path im-n-s-h-fo
if you hear it from a guy in the apron store, be VERY suspicious the mtl/method will work,,, when it time to build something together, they won't answer phones NOR help
