Replacing aluminum Jalousie basement windows
I need some help with replacing my basement windows. Currently I have 2 Jalousie windows in my basement. They are old and do not close all the way. I have purchased new vinyl replacement windows, but the Jalousie windows do not appear to have a frame. Do I need to attach a wood from to the concrete blocks in order to put the new windows in?

You would need to build a frame out of Pressure treated lumber. As for the windows, if they have the nailing flange on them, you can cut them off, if they are new construction type. We redid the window in our garage, and used a retro, which meant building a sill for it. We used the PVC Sill & Brick moulding for the outside frame, which I used for around the garage door also, and 1x4 trim on all corners. It holds up a lot better than wood, and would probably work great for framing out the basement windows.
