Replace or keep baseboard moldings when replacing doors?
 

Quick question, I am getting to replace three bedroom doors with some prehung doors from the bigbox store. On one of the walls in two of the bedrooms, there is a long baseboard section - 16'er or close to it. Is it worth trying to pry back this molding and save it, or just remove/replace it. Or would it be worth cutting it back and replacing whatever small section I can with a scarf joint.

That is entirely up to you, if it is in your own home.

Tho, this is the way I would look at it:

Right way(Doing it on a professional job): Removal of the length of board to the next joint, or wall.... & replace it.

Saving money on your own home: You can pry it out and do a scarf joint. If it is paint grade, you can also patch the area, and sand it, to make it blend, before final painting.

I have no problem replacing it. The molding was cheap enough. Thanks
