Replace Aluminum Windows

I live in Vancouver and I am am wanting to replace the old aluminum windows. I am trying to decide to go with new contruction windows or replacement windows. As I understand it: New contruction windows cut back siding to access framing to attach nailing fin and this would probably also redoing trim etc inside. Replacement windows I would have to cut out existing window frame and then slide in new window with no modifications inside. What will the quality of the seal be considering the profile of the siding? Any input would be appreciated. Pics attached.

I would go with a new construction window. size up your window and see what comes close to the opening you have now. you might have to close in an 1" or 2" or it might just fit. either way you will need to install some type of trim around of the outside of the window. pry away the siding just enough to install the proper flashing behind and over the flange for a water tight seal. I'm not a fan on replacement windows unless they are installed in a existing window frame. Just my pet peeve. BOB

Our contractor installed Milgard vinly block frame sliding windows in our home. He cut out the aluminum sliding window and left the nailing fins under the siding. Installed the block frame sliding windows and put screws through the jams of the block frame sliding window that are screwed into the sheathing and not into the wood jam of the frame. Is that a correct install?

You can not use replacement windows with that style window. Going to have to go with new construction.
What type siding is that?
