Removing casement sash

Hello,

I have to paint some trim around two windows on the second story of my house. I don't have a ladder long enough to reach, neither do my neighbors. My other option is to remove the window sash so that I can easily reach. I don't know how to do that. Can you fine folks help me out? Thanks

Paul

Post a picture of the hardware. What you do depends on which window you have.

Casement sashes are the easiest to remove, unless it is OLD. Most hardware has connecting pins that simply pop out with a screwdriver, there may be a stop screw keeping the plastic hinges in place. With the screw out, the hinges slide out of tracks.

They are also easy to drop when trying to remove and reinstall from the inside so be very careful.
