remodeling basement.....question on building ledge

Question on remodeling the basement. First I am looking at reframing the lower half of my walls to include a 1X6 ledge. Below the ledge I plan on putting pre-finished 1X8 pine carsiding (tounge and grove). Above the ledge I want to just use sheetrock and I don't think I will reframe even though there isn't a lot of insulation (only 1/2 inch). Wondering how high most people build their ledge up from the floor? I have an electrical outlet about 4 feet high in one spot and figured I would try to build the ledge and inch or two below the outlet. Any other ideas on framing a ledge would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you post some pics?

And if I'm understanding you correctly, I would use a wood "cap" on top of your ledge/knee wall as drywall won't stand up very well at all.

Yes, will be putting a piece of pine 1x6 as the ledge piece over the framed 2X4 wall with sheetrock on the wall above and carsiding below. No pics yet, haven't even started the project.
