Ayuh,... I donno, but I wanta say,...
My Dad gave me 1 of those years ago,...
I've tried to use it several times, it Never works right, unless it's about 70 out...
Of course, at 70 I don't need it to work...
At any tempertures below that,...
It fires, 'n runs for maybe a minute, then quits, 'n smokes..

I'm pretty Handy, but sent it out for repairs anyway,...
After $50. in repairs,...
It still does the same thing...

Talkin' to my Bil some years ago,...
He told me that's Why Dad gave it to me,...
He couldn't get the dam thing to work Right either....

Rather than just "throw some parts" at it until you figure out the cause, I'd try an internet search OR have someone fix it for you. I've got a heater (different brand) I've had for at least 15 years and have never even replaced the plug in it. I DO take it apart and blow all of the dirt/drywall dust out of it annually and replace the filter. Talk to someone at your local tool rental store. They can probably give you advice as to what MIGHT be the cause or do the repairs for you....

Fuel filter!

I would bet it is the fuel filter--I had the same problem. I found the user manual for my heater, complete with a troubleshooting guide. When I pulled the fuel filter, it was almost completely clogged. After cleaning it my heater runs like a jet. I also cranked the pressure to high, which helped to bring hotter, cleaner air.

Here is the manual for my heater:

Note, do not move the heater while it is working! You will stir up the crud in the fuel tank and suck it into the filter and create a clog.

Good luck
