re-routing central vacuum pipe

I have a central vacuum pipe protruding from the ceiling inbetween joists, in my basement.
It extends approx. 12 inches down right in the middle of the room.

Can I re-route this pvc pipe? (I think it's pvc, some kind of hard plastic and it's approximately 2 inches in diameter).

Presently I do not have central vacuum, but when we built the house I put the rough in for it.

I wanted to re-route it to what eventually will be the furnace room.
Can I cut it and put in an elbow piece and add a straight piece and run it over to where I want it?

Also, how to I attach pvc pipes together? (Glue???????)

Central vac pipe installs the same way pvc plumbing pipe does. It is thinwall, though. The material is available at your electrical supply house.

What is "thinwall"
