RC1 / Drywall Orientation?

Reading a ton on Resilient Channel, etc...

Question, can you run the long sides of the drywall parallel with the channel? Or does it have to run perpendicular?

Curious, because I have a really LONG and skinny room, and would love to run my sheetrock the long way - I would have a lot less cuts, waste, and tapping.

However, if I did the RC1, and I had to switch the direction of the drywall, that's a pain.

So, does it matter which direction RC is installed on drywall?

Thanks.

RC1 / Drywall Orientation?

Orientation depends on drywall thickness and if a water based texture will be applied, read the footnotes, Table #1:

RC1 / Drywall Orientation?

Thanks, handy link In accordance to that, I can go parallel or perpendicular as I will have 5/8" on 16" Centers with no spray on stuff.

However, I'm curious as to if this will negate the benefits of using RC1 channels? From what I've read, it's easy to make this stuff useless if not used correctly.
