Well my porch project is moving along and I now have finished pouring the cement piers. There are 2 piers, they were poured using 8"x48"
sono tubes, the holes in the ground were 43" deep. I used Quikrete Concrete Mix #1101 and they were poured Wednesday finishing up at 6pm.
My question is,, I mixed according to the instructions, I used 3.5 32oz bottles of water for each 80lb bag. After vigourously mixing with a spade for a good 10 min all the mix was the same color and consitency which was like barely damp sand. Is that how it is supposed to be consistency wise? Thats the proper amount of water.
Now it is Friday morning and looking at my Piers they havent changed color from the slightly dark grey that they originally were. They seem a little harder to the touch but it seems like if I pushed hard enough with my finger nail I could get the concrete to crumble apart some. Does this seem right for the amount of time they have been poured? Thed weather here has been in the 60's during the day and upper 30's at night.
Ah jeez, I had searched using "Quikrete" before I posted and didnt come up with much. Then as soon as I post this I see the post directly below mine is asking basically the same question:laughing:
