question with hole in my wall

I'm planning to repair this hole in my wall, with adhesive fiberglass tape.
Can i use something like Durham's rock hard water putty? On the can it says that its good for repairing cracks and stuff, tiles, wood, etc...but im not that sure.

BTW, when it says " Mix 3 parts powder and 1 part water" would that be like mixing 3 cups of the powder and 1 cup of water?

Yes, 3 cups powder and 1 cup water. Or 3 tablespoons powder and 1 tablespoon water, depending on how much putty you need.

I would say no problem, except in most cases hard water putty is overkill for an ordinary dry location patch job. More expensive, like.

Check the instructions for what kinds of tools should be used. "Rock hard" putty that is meant to be stuffed somewhere and left as-is may be difficult to file and sand in an exposed location after it hardens.

Unless the hole is in a unique situation. I would use drywall mud.. .

Stop and think about the next step... ROCK HARD....

How you gonna sand/feather it if its rock hard???

well it does say that i can be sanded 8 hours later on my can..and I have 2 drums full of the stuff, i don't want to waste it and buy some the mud filling type. Do you think i can use to it patch up a 4x4[estimate] hole?

Thx too all

Ayuh,...... Why Not..........

Just because it isn't the 1st Choice,....
Doesn't necessarily make it a Bad Choice.......
Go for it..... It'll be plenty Strong......
