Question on drywall.

I would like to know if there is something a person needs to do after they have the taping all completed? Do you need to put a primer on before you texture or does everyone texture right after the taping is done? When the texturing is done do you need a primer before you paint and if so what seems to be the best one? Thanks.

Not really, Just sand and wipe down the walls (dust) prior to appyling primer-sealer and the paint.

There are two opinions about this. Painter say one thing, drywallers so another. IMHO, texture is comprised of compound. You don't prime sheetrock before you apply compound to it, so we don't prime before texturing. Never have.

We do add (mix) about 16 oz of flat white latex to the compound to be used for texture.

I suggest that you prime and paint the texture.

There are PVA primers specifically made for new drywall. It will say it on the can/bucket.
