Question about sump pump

Obviously, I need access to the sump pump, but it happens to be in prime real estate to place a screen for a home theatre setup. The problem lies in where it is situated. It is placed in a corner with a window almost directly above. If I was to do the typical full "closet" enclosure it would look horrible for the aesthetics and partially obscure the window. So now to the point. Is there a minimum size requirement for "direct access" to a sump pump? Would a smaller size enclosure work just as well and still meet code, ie something with shelf space above it? I'll have to post a picture or two, but below is a general idea of where it is situated.

The window is more offset than directly above the sump pump to the point it would overlap a wall by 3-4inches. The "i's" are where the window is. O is sump pump and periods are floor space.
