I'm in the planning stages of an outdoor kitchen build. The plan is to build a bbq island using steel frames and face it with stucco and manufactured stone.
My first concern is that the intended location will span two different foundations.
I have an existing concrete slab that butts up against some pavers. The structure will sit across both of these. Am I setting myself up for cracks on the wall of the bbq island?
My second question relates to a pergola that I intend to put overhead. I like the idea of building the pergola into the island. An example is in the attached picture. It appears in the picture though that the lumbar is sitting on top of the counter. Would I better off building the counter around it and have the lumbar rest on the slab underneath thereby taking the load off of the island.
