Question about a Closet Pole

Me and my wife just moved into a new apartment. The closet we have in the bed room is big but the issue is that the wooden pole used to hang cloths is painted and the hangers do not slide on it. This makes moving cloths in and our really hard (harder then you think). I would just install another pole but it is nailed in and basically permanent. My question is does anyone know of something that we can put on the bar (maybe a special type of tape) that will make the hangers be able to slide on the pole. Thanks a lot for the time and advice.

Question about a Closet Pole

Nailed in or not I would just replace it with a peice of top rail for chain link fence. Lowes carrys it and also get a couple of closet rod end brackets. There is nothing I know of that would work the way you want it to.

Dave.

Question about a Closet Pole

How about a plastic slip on cover that you put on shower rods. They come in lenghts of 5 ft. and have a slit through them that you can spread open and snap it onto the wooden closet rod.
