PVC Stair railing

I live in Ontario Canada. The front porch of my house is 8 steps above ground level. The stairs has a wood railing on each side built by builder. There are only two posts on each end and they are 8 feet apart. The wood has rotten over the year. I want to replace it with PVC railing for low maintenance. I checked out the major store like home depot and Lowe, they only sell 6 feet sections. But they said that I can order 8 feet section. But I have to be sure that it will meet the building code. Is there any building code governing the distance between two posts for a stair railing? The original wood railing has two posts 8 feet apart. Can I do the same with PVC.

PVC Stair railing

I don't have any code issues in my area but you will need to check locally to be sure for your situation. I have used the 8 footers and as long as you have good solidly mounted posts you shouldn't have a problem.
