putting light fixtures into support beams
I have a breakfast nook in which i want to add three pendant lights to. The problem is, i would need to drill three holes through the support beam, from the attic. Is this a problem? Will it weaken the structure too much?

it depends on a lot of things. It is a tough call when one cannot view the situation and must depend on verbal explanation only.
depending on what your support beam actually is will make the difference. if you explain the structure a bit, maybe somebody will be able to help a bit more. |

Yes, please elaborate on the beam, or posting a pic would be just as good.
Vertical holes are ok in certain types of beams in certain situations, and are absolute no-no's in other types. |
