Proper way to install rake trim boards on long roof peak?
Thank you all!

how many small pieces are there. there should only be 2 pieces total on any run. why did you change it. i didn't see anything wrong with the before picture. have you already paid them?

Pic 2: what a mess! Pros may say it's just cosmetic and not that noticeable from the ground but to me it says the work was done by chimps.

and not very well trained chimps ....

That's shingle moulding not a rake board.
The board under it is a rake board not a rack board.
It does look like poop though.
I would have replaced it with vinyl rake moulding so it would never rot again.
It only needed 2, finish nails not 1/2 dozen staples.
It's also not line up with the other piece.
Also the gutter was run to long.

For me if I have let's say 16'8" and only 16' material, I cut it back to 14' and do a 2'-8" piece.

Nice hand print on the rake in photo #1... Would drive me nuts...

Although the work is kind of a mess it is definitely fixable. The real issue is whether you want to risk having the original contractor take a third crack at this. If it weren't so high up it would be an easy fix for someone with decent do it yourself skills. The comments made by others clearly explain what needs to be done. Good luck.

It's the second highest quote among the 4 we got.

They haven't painted it yet. First part of the job is to repair the rotten wood. Second part is to paint.

Thank you. I had to google what rake board is.

I do this type of work, and re-work (as in this case), and it just makes me cringe/cuss when I see this type of work done. Doesn't anyone have any idea of craftsmanship any more?

Quality craftmanship is hard to find nowadays... :(

To make you feel better, you just have to wait until the paint job is done... This looks like something that is "almost done".
