privacy fence wood question

I am looking to build a privacy fence. I am just very confused on what type of wood to use. I was going to go with the western red cedar, but I have been reading that the white cedar is better. The white absorbs very little water, shrinks only about 1% and has natural inhibitors to fight off rot and decay. I live in Oklahoma and the ground is very acidic. Does anyone out there have any better suggestions on what kind of wood I should use?

privacy fence wood question

Have you thought about the vinyl privacy fences they cost more but then again never having to paint or stain would be nice.
