Preventing garage door jamb rot?

About to embark on a project to rebuild some old carriage style garage doors, which are falling apart, not to mention the jambs are rotting out on the lower areas due to moisture exposure. (I am located in Canada with relatively cold and snowy winters).

Was wondering if anyone could provide some tips on how I might best rebuild these door jambs in such a way to help prevent this rot in the future?

Also, a carpenter suggested I carriage bolt the jambs into the adjacent concrete block for additional strength. Do you all think this to be necessary?

Attaching a couple pics to help illustrate the situation today.

Thank you!

Maybe there is a synthetic material like Hardy that would work.

Ron's got it. Pressure treated wood for the jambs. Not sure how you would use carriage bolts in this case, but there are anchoring options. Epoxy anchors or wedge anchors would be the easiest and most secure.
