Saw an ad in Atlanta for a company that pours concrete over your crawl space area; reducing odor, water, etc, anyone heard of this procedure? Sounds risky if there is water for example that runs under the house; etc, how would you ever deflect it later.... IS THIS LIKE CRAWSPACE ENCAPSULATION? dogdoc, Atlanta
Houses/additions that are now built over crawl spaces have rat slabs(cute name?) as a matter of code. I'm not familiar with issues of high water tables and these slabs. I have two crawl spaces under additions. One was original to the house built in 1949 and is dirt. The other is from 2000 when I put the kitchen addition on. That has 2" of foam board under 2" of concrete. It's dryer and alot more pleasant to crawl around in.
