posting housewrap

can i use 3/8 staples to affix Tyvec housewrap to 7/16 OSB ? and should i use a regular stapler (grip) or the hammer-like one for roofing? i have both.

also, i notice they sell some tape for $11 at HD, apparently to seal the joints between. is that really necessary to use, i'd like to save $11.

The swing stapler will be fine. Taping the joints is imporant to maintain a consistent sealing. I know your thinking of just using alot of staples to close the seam, but I would consult the link above and get it as close to right as you can. Once covered there's no going back.

Do it right (as above) and seal the window and door penetrations well. Thats the weakest spot

After some thought, if you absolutely don't want to buy the tape, double fold the seams and then staple. House wrap is more about wind penatration than moisture.
