Is it possible to use grout as an alternative to Levelquick?
As the title reads!
I have a 450 square foot room that by a file contractor friend's quick and dirty calculation would take roughly 25 sacks of Levelquick to make things consistient throughout the floor.
I was at the local HD tonight and noticed some Sakrete brand grout which specifically mentioned "pumpability" and "grout consistencies ranging from dry pack to flowable."
So, might I have a much more affordable alternative?
Even if i need to purchase liquid admixtures, this has got to be a more economical alternative!
If anybody is near Fort Worth with a reply, shoot, I would buy ya a cold on for your troubles!
What is the use for the room?? How far out of level is it. For a space that large, I would consider a shimmed floor. Leveling compound sets very quickly, i don't think i could mix/pour that much before it starts to set.
Well, up until 1978, it was a patio. Two owners ago it was enclosed and finished off, and now it has become the focus of my attention.
When I bought the place it had carpet that looked like it had seen the aftermath of a mafia hit, so obviously it had to go!
Well, pulling back the carpet revealed a rather lumpy and bumpy concrete surface..
I have already purchased slate tile to install and it is sitting right outside the back door.
If I do not need to do the entire floor, i suppose the really troublesome portions could be done, but still, the LQ is rather pricey.
is there a 'gypcrete' company around you?
they can pump in a mixture that self-levels.
we use it as fire/sound protection and as a heat-sink for floors.
we do that work & there isn't any product we'd buy from an apron store for this project,,, IF you haven't done this previously, find an experienced helper,,, prep is the most important item to consider,,, we've repaired many diy-h/o jobs.
you've got many resources in your area - use 'em
