Hello all im new and was woundering if anyone would be able to help me out. Here is the blueprints that i have just drawn for a portable garage that i would like to build. I am hoping that someone can tell me if i have missed anything.
This is my first time so please be gentle. lol
Please check it out and tell me what u think.
Ayuh,... It don't look to Portable to me...
Looks more like a built in place garage...
technically its portable because its built on 4x4 skids so it can be loaded on a flatbed and moved if ever needed
its portable. its just not easy to
also im uploading a new pic for some reason it was shrunk down realy bad and it makes it illegible
Houses can be loaded on a big flat bed & moved too
Doesn't make them portable
If you haven't already, check with your local building on what they consider portable
Do you have a specific question ?
Where are you located ?
Low roof - no snow load ?
No such animal...... Bottom plate has to be anchored to slab or stem wall. Roof and wall loads have to be transferred to foundations. Footing depth min. 12" in undisturbed soil. 12" min. space under wood beams, 18" under joists.
Garage floor has to be of non-combustible material and sloped to door (for gasoline drainage). Elevated or wood supported slab must be engineered (local). Not going to happen, sorry.
Briefly, you missed at least the following:
1. ASCE and IBC snow and wind loading calcs
2. IBC 1604.4 complete load path analysis
3. ASCE 7-05 Table 4-1 and IBC Table 1607.1 point and distributed load design minimums for residential garages
4. member sizing check
5. IBC Section 2306 shear check
6. IBC fastener schedules and requirements
7. foundation design
There are some other items, like site issues, soils, etc.
My advice is for you to take the sketches to an engineer or architect and see if they can make it work for you. You could in theory make the walls and roof of a structure portable with the right fasteners.
