Porch post repair & modification.

Three corner posts on my wrap-around porch are rotting at the bottom. The remaining 12 posts are solid. As pictured, this is all wood construction with the posts resting on "bases" made of 1" thick pressure treated deck board.

Since, I only need to replace/repair 3 and wish for all posts to "match", I'm considering replacing the 3 bases with aluminum stock, shaped like the existing wood ones. My thinking is that this will take some wood (and moisture) out of the equation, thus reducing moisture transfer to the bottom of the post.

(I've already started on adding vents to the hollow posts, to provide a little circulation).

You comments ref the aluminum base idea ????

Post a picture of what you have.
Aluminum prices are at an all time high right now, may get a little pricey.

Thanks for responding Joecaption. Im not concerned about the cost. I have the metal. My question is - will it help reduce moisture & rot by changing the post base from wood to aluminum? I don't want to use Simpson's because they dont match - aesthetics.
