porch flooring at top of steps

Hi

I have just replaced about a dozen t&g flooring boards on my front porch (covered). Most of the boards are at the top of a set of wooden steps. The floor boards run perpendicular to the house and steps, thus presenting their cut edges along the top of the steps. The edge of the porch at the top step was previously covered with a strip of metal flashing. This original flashing was very old and damaged.

Is there a special type of metal strip/flashing that should be used for this? If so, what it the best way to attach it? Are there any better alternatives?

Thanks

This is a stock item at any large hardware store.
Just tell them you need a stair nosing.
It will be aluminum or another non-corrosive metal.
Something like this:
