porch construction question

When you have a porch the rafters sit on the header beam supported by porch columns, correct? Where the rafters meet the ridge what support that ridge? Is it just attached to the house framing?

there is usually a 2x ledger against the house that bolts to house and rafters are cut to it or the rafters are set into the wall attaching to the sides of the studs and then blocking added to form a type of ledger inside the wall.

Would it bolt to the studs from the interior of the house or the double top plate of the walls?

the ledger bolts to the outside of exterior wall if that is how it is built. if the top of roof is placed up tight under the house overhangs then it could possibly bolt to the double wall plates but most likely not because the underside of the house soffits being lower than the top plates.
