PORCH - from BRICK to WOOD
We had a 30 foot long porch in front of the house. THe floors was concrete and the siding was brick.
The support under the concred was not build well and we decided to take it out and replace the porch with a wood porch.
As we took out the concrete porch and the brick we realized that under the porch was filled with dirt (georgia red clay). I guess the clay was used as support for the concrete floor of the porch.
As we built the wood deck we did not remove the dirty.
A day later the termites inspectors from Orkins came by and said they will cancel our service unless we remove the clay.
It would cost my alot to get that moved out.
Is there a real danger for termites if we dont remove the clay?
What type of lumber did you use to build your deck? Pressure treated? How close is the deck to the ground?. In my area the termites don't live in our adobe clay but hopefully there will be someone along who can comment on Georgia clay.
