Poll Barn

I am building a poll barn to house a 38' Motor-home. It is 24'x45' and will be 14' wall hight. I need to span the 24' and I am having trouble finding lumber that long for a reasonable price so I was thinking of using metal studs to do this. Any Idea's if this is possible and if so what size should I use.

Find a truss manufacturer in your area and have them price out the trusses for your project. Price out the wood or metal for you making your trusses and you may be surprised at how affordable these pre-fab trusses are. Placing them onto the fourteen (14) height of your wall will can be done with a few friends over for a cook-out and "truss-raising" party. Stick-built wooden or metal trusses can be built on site with the lower chord being joined in the middle appropriately. Good Luck, David
