pocket door coming off track

i have a pocket door that has a bent track. All the hardware is old and low quality. I was looking for new hardware for a pocket door, but all my local suply store had was a complete pocket door kit with all wood to rough it in and everything for like $65. They also had a good selection of closet door tracks, could that be used? anyone have any useful advice?

i will ONLY use Johnson hdwr for pocket doors. not too sure about using closet door hangers... how heavy of a door? if the $65 kit is a Johnson, suck it up and spend the money and do it right, you will not regret it.

anyone know if the wall is gonna have to be torn into to replace the track?

im thinking of ordering this track/rollers

will that work?

yes, that is Johnson track, exactly what i use. so far as tearing into the wall, that depends on what you have. i would wager yes, most likely. can you post us a picture?

Yes mr mouse! one side of the wall will have to be opened. from the track down about 12" this way you can remove the screws at the middle and rear of the track.
and by the way nice drywall lift> Bob

tnkx Bob, but if you read my last post in that thread, i decided to go an easier, cheaper route. (very important to us po' folk) i may still make one though, just because i know i can. kinda like the guy doing his own DC motor. and yes, giving it more thought, i see no way NOT to have to open the wall.

correct ! the wall will have to be opened. Just enough to get to the screws that hold it in. BOB
