Plastic threshold on new patio doors?

I ordered new exterior outswing doors that were delivered the other day. When I placed the order I had the option of aluminum or bronze for the threshold and I selected bronze. When the doors arrived, although the exterior part of the threshold was bronze, the interior was a wood grain plastic. I have never seen a plastic threshold. Is this new? A good thing or a bad thing? I have spent a lot of time on the phone with the store who then turned around and called the vendor. At this point I'm told that only plastic is available and that's that. Anyone run into this before and if so, how has the wear been? I'm concerned that the finish would wear off quickly.

THANKS!

I've never seen a plastic threshold. It was only a matter of time though. Plastic costs less then metal.
Who makes the door?

The door is made by Jeld Wen. When I talked to the store, they said that the manufacturer claimed that it was industry standard? I gotta say though, I've been looking everywhere and I'm only seeing references to aluminum or wood thresholds.

update

After talking to the store further, they say that it is actually a vinyl threshold on the inside rather than plastic. Any thoughts or opinions on vinyl? Is that something that will hold up?

Could be a thermal break threshold. Bronze inside and out would have a temp transfer whereas the vinyl insde would slow the transfer from the outside temps.

That makes sense. Thanks for the info!

firefly, for what it is worth Jen-Weld is a good company, large. An umbrella corp. One of their brands is CARADCO, they also make RELI-BUILT for Lowes.

Thanks Skymaster, that's reassuring to hear! We're relatively new homeowners, so a lot of this is new to us.

I appreciate the help I've gotten here!
