Your there were not, follow it to see what it's attched to.
If it's the A/C condinsate drin it will be attched to the pan under the unit.

Sorry Joe! I haven't had enough coffee yet and that gave me a headache.
? In case you didn't get that?
You're there, we're not. Follow it to see what it's attached to.
If it is the ac condensate drain, it will be attached to the pan under the unit.

Now you stated that the ac is on the side of the house. Where is the air handler? If not in attic, then we keep looking to see where it goes. (and by we, I mean you).

You could help us help you by giving at least a shred of useful description of your situation.
What size is the pipe? If its 4 inch PVC, then it's not ac! if it is the drain for the pan, it's plugged and may need to be blown out.
Post a pic please!

"its a pvc pipe that is coming out of the roof in my garage my husband thinks its link to the ac"

It is very likely that is hooked to the AC, most systems have the air handler in the attic. Generally this would the secondary "backup" drain line. You put these in a very obvious place so when water comes out it is seen. The reason it would not drain before is you primary drain line dumps the water down the house drains. When it gets plugged it overflows into this secondary line.
