pergola

Hi, I am building a free standing pergola about 14'x16'. The problem I am having is that it isn't as sturdy as I would like. Posts are 4x6 and beams are 2x10. I haven't put the rafters up, but they are going to be 2x4. And also haven't put up the knee braces. Any suggestions about making it more sturdy or do you think doing those things will be enough. Thanks.pergola-photo-2.jpg Sorry the pic is upside down hopefully you get the picture, I am trying to do this from my phone.

When you get the bracing in place it will make all the difference. Now is too soon to judge.

It would be more useful if it were built right side up.

Like Bud suggested--Get the braces in---that will add a lot to the structure.

Bud--turn your monitor upside down---simple!
