Patio and patio cover - newbie
Hello All,

I am in process of designing my new patio / patio cover. I have searched the internet for a while to get the answer to my questions. I would like members profesional opinion on my project to make sure I am not missing anything.
So here is its.
I am getting concrete (stamped) patio which is 32 x 11 ft.
There will be 3 footing under the "slab" which are 12x12x16 in for 3 posts (4x4)
The span between posts will be 16 ft oc and I am planning to use 2x10x16 double as a header. The rafter will be 2x8x12 space every 16in.

I was planning to use 2x10 as a ledger. Here is my main concern. I was planning to attached the ledger using 1/2in bolts to the studs. I have a hardy plank sidings which I am planning to remove (the section where the ledger will be attached. I willl make sure there is flashing installed too.
I am ggeting mix answers from the internet about attaching ledger to the studs.
I was planning to attached pics but do not know how (yet). Additionally, I have not access from inside the house (unless I remove the drywall which I am trying to avoid).
If I figure how to attach pics I will update the post.
Thank you for your help and sorry for grammatical errors.

Do you live in a temperate climate? No snow load? Pitch of roof?

I live in Atlanta, we don't get snow (much). The pitch of the roof is same as front porch (I believe its 4/12)

Marius, what did you find out about attaching the ledger to the studs?

I talked to Cobb Co. (Marrieta, GA) inspector and I was told that there is no building code (at least here) on how to attached ledger to the house. He said I can do whatever I want. So my plan is to attach the ledger to the studs.

Thanks Marius. I hope I'm that lucky. I'll be calling the inspector tomorrow.
