Patching unfinished basement ceiling? Pictures included


In our unfinished basement we have multiple gaps between floor joist where you can see the 1st floor boards. what is the easiest way to patch this...also what's the best means for sealing around ductwork going to second floor. Thank you, this site is great.

Patching unfinished basement ceiling? Pictures included


The first hole I would patch by cutting plywood longer that the hole, screw
it into the the 2x and then silicone gaps or use the canned foam. The second hole could be fixed the same way or just using the canned foam. That is unless you want to try to find flashing that could be trimmed to fit.
