Patch cement block wall?

Looking for advice on patching a cement block retaining wall. Crumbling in a few places. I was hoping to be able to build a form and fill in the holes, or maybe knock out the broken pieces and cut a new block to size as a replacement.

Anyone have some suggestions?

actually that should NOT be attach'd, contact, or otherwise adjoin the steps,,, guessin' movement's caus'd spalling,,, a sealant's the best choice applied over clos'd cell backer rod of the appropriate dimension

Patch cement block wall?

Thanks! One last question...before I put the closed backer rod at the bottom do I need to fill behind it with anything? The gaps are pretty deep.

nope, nuttin,,, HOWEVER, make certain the backer rod's oversize to the extent it stays in place ( compression ),,, that way your sealant'll adhere to the sides of this ' joint ' & it'll ' work ' as it ought to work,,, the recommended depth:width & max thickness can be found on the product sheet,,, this ain't apron store stuff you'll need to get supplies from a pro const supply house,,, IF anything, in a pinch use the 100% silicone if you absolutely NEED to give $$$ to the apron stores
