outside ideas for house

Hello. I remodeled the first floor of the house entirely. I still have the basement and outside to do. The picture is the front of the house. I need some ideas. It needs major work and curb appeal. Removed two large tree in the front that were covering the entire house last year. Will post back of the house later.

For my personal taste, those older metal window / door canopies have to go. Paint the shudders white to match the rest of the trim work. Paint the front door.

It needs some color, perhaps a rose bush or something of that nature. Rip out that shrubbery you have now and go for a big flower bed right in front.

Maybe also some bushes or something lining the yard right next to the driveway.

you could move those hedges out closer to the street / sidewalk. then make a path from your front door to the street / sidewalk with an opening in the hedges. Maybe a nice arched arbor with flowering vines.

A sheltered front door is functional - I'd keep it. I don't think I'd want my front yard to look very different from the others on the street. If everyone to both sides of you have nothing but grass then I'd go easy on the embellishments.

Thank you for all the replies. Great ideas. The awnings will be coming off. I am putting new windows in after winter. Also would like to widen the driveway so we can have one car parked in the garage and be able to pull out. I am also thinking of possibly adding a gable roof over the front.

The bow/bay Window I am confused about. Inside I can walk under the opening. There is no ledge inside. It may just be a picture Window with two one the side?

It's most likely one window with cables holding together on inside

That's what I figured I can see any screws or anything. So is this a bay or a bow? On the outside they have an ugly tat roof over this Window. I will have to have a professional install this one. I had the windows in the back of the house replaced by a company. And they capped the outside. Very disappointed of how it looks. The caulked all around the capping into the brick and just looks sloppy the white caulking into the brick. Not sure if I can remove it. I installed one Window on the side and I have to cap it any suggestions capping with brick?

Agree with the others about losing the awning over the door. But it would probably appear barren and stark, so perhaps a nice replacement would be in order. Matching copper lights, or wrought iron, on either side of the door would pull the look together nicely as well.
