Outside Dog Kennel Covers

Got into helping out find ways to put a roof, low cost over 22 kennels that are chain link standing six feet high..side by side.

It is for local dog shelter,to keep dogs protected from sun, snow wind and rain.

I was thinking of 2x10 wood frame with roof of some sort to create a pitch
of at least six inches higher spot for weather runoff, rain or snow thaw.

Any ideas how to accomplish?

Build one long shed roof pole barn and move the kennels under it.
Cheaper then building all those smaller ones and less labor.
Use 5 Vee metal roof for a fast easy roof.

joe may be right, depending on the size of kennels, etc. my "kennel" is only about 6' wide, so i ran 2x4's across the top, plywood, and a gray/brown tarp (the blue tarps leak in no time). fast, cheap, simple, but ugly as sin. now and then, i go out and scrape most of the snow off. 2x10's? good god, how wide are those kennels?

Wow, quick replies !!!

Pole Barn idea will be looked at for sure. I know 2x10 pretty hefty but I was looking for the pitch concept being a back-yard building hacker before turning it over to the pros. Hard to explain. Thank you…all you guys!

There's no mention of where you live, in some areas there a need to heat and A/C or you can get in trouble.

I would certainly use corrugated metal for the roof. It's quite inexpensive and very durable in the long run.
