Opening in load bearing wall


hey guys my wife wants me to put an opening in our wall between kitchen and living room the wall is 7 feet wide 8 feet high its holding the roof joists i wanna build a header just not sure what size i have no problem doing a bigger one then i need just not sure what i need minimum thanks

How much of the wall are you removing? Is it two story?

it is split level main floor and basement. the wall is on main floor we want to remove an area about 4'6" x 3'5" for the Hole
