Old Register Vents

My husband and I are redoing our bathroom. We live in an old house and the measurements on almost everything are off. I can not find a vent like the one we have. Does anyone know where to find another like this, or how to redo this vent? It is made of metal. This vent in the picture is in one of the bedroom, I just took a picture of that one to show, they are all the same.

You probably won't find one like that.

You can have it sand-blasted or bead-blasted, and it probably won't cost much. Most paint shops can do this for you, or look up media blasters or sand blasters in the phonebook. That will strip all the paint and leave you clean raw metal.

I bead-blasted my HVAC vents, and was shocked that they rusted wherever my fingers touched them...Overnight! So, use caution handling them when they've just been blasted. Hang them from the ceiling and spray the entire surface with rust-inhibiting spray primer. Once the primer is dry, use spray paint to get the color you want.

The hard way to do it would be with sandpaper, but it could be done. It will take a loooooong time though.

Try an antique store or house wrecking shop?

Find a place that does powder coating and check those options. Will last almost forever.

Ooh...Good idea! Powder coating will stand up to almost anything, and most powder coaters can media blast the old paint off the metal!
